L.] 1940:6 [Transactions of the Texas Academy of Sciencs v. 23 (1938-1939); ref. 10707] Monument Spring, tributary to Peña Colorado Creek, 12-13 miles south-southwest of Marathon, Texas, U.S.A., elevation 3700 feet. Holotype: UMMZ 104170. Paratypes: BU uncat. [ex UMMZ 127335] (3); UMMZ 104171 (15), 120330 (10), 127335 (22) Type catalog: Gilbert 1978:29-30 [ref. 7042], Gilbert 1998:50 [ref. 23395]. •Synonym of Notropis lutrensis (Baird & Girard 1853) -- (Gilbert 1978:30 [ref. 7042]). •Now extinct, sometimes recognized as a valid subspecies. •Synonym of Cyprinella lutrensis (Baird & Girard 1853) -- (Matthews 1987:616 [ref. 6774], Mayden 1989:50 [ref. 12555], Gilbert 1998:50 [ref. 23395]). •Synonym of Cyprinella lutrensis (Baird & Girard 1853) but a valid extinct subspecies -- (Scharpf 2005:13 [ref. 28940]). Current status: Synonym of Cyprinella lutrensis (Baird & Girard 1853). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Habitat: freshwater.
