basak, Leucos Heckel [J. J.] 1843:1006 [48], Pl. 1 [Ichthyologie [von Syrien]. In Russegger v. 1 (pt 2); ref. 2066] Croatia. Lectotype: NMW 50723-1. Syntypes: NMW 50723 (1), 50725 (2). Appeared also in Kner 1843:1038 (48 of separate) [ref. 2066] as name only with locality, not available. Plate is of pharyngeal teeth. Appeared in more detail and usually dated to Heckel in Heckel & Kner 1858:111, Fig. 88 [ref. 2078]. Lectotype selected by Bianco & Ketmaier 2014:386 [ref. 33417]. •Valid as Leucos basak Heckel 1843 -- (Bianco & Ketmaier 2014:384 [ref. 33417]). •Valid as Rutilus basak (Heckel 1843) -- (Bianco & Taraborelli 1985:149 [ref. 21914], Maric 1988:58 [ref. 20058], Kottelat 1997:77 [ref. 22952], Bogutskaya & Iliadou 2006:294 [ref. 28494], Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:239 [ref. 29996], Zupančič 2008:39 [ref. 29926], Marić 2010:153 [ref. 31525], Perea et al. 2010:15 [ref. 31802], Ćaleta et al. 2015:82 [ref. 34877], Levin et al. 2017:39 [ref. 35061], Ćaleta et al. 2019:163 [ref. 37026]). Current status: Valid as Rutilus basak (Heckel 1843). Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae. Distribution: Southeastern Europe: Neretva River drainage, (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina). Habitat: freshwater.
