Current status: Valid as Dawkinsia lepida (Day 1868). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: South Asia: Bhavani, Muvattupuzha and Chalakudy River drainages (Tamil Nadu and Kerala, southern India). Habitat: freshwater.
