See also remarks under Barbus orphoides Valenciennes 1842. •Synonym of Barbodes sarana (Hamilton 1822), subspecies orphoides (Valenciennes 1842) -- (Menon 1999:69 [ref. 24904]). •Synonym of Puntius sarana (Hamilton 1822). •Valid as Systomus rubripinnis (Valenciennes 1842) -- (Kottelat 2013:166 [ref. 32989], Ng et al. 2019:525 [ref. 36606], Taki et al. 2021:127 [ref. 39830], Hasan et al. 2022:6035 [ref. 39888], Ahmad et al. 2023:76 [ref. 41243]). Current status: Valid as Systomus rubripinnis (Valenciennes 1842). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Mayanmar, Thailand, northern Cambodia, Malaya (Malaysia), Java (Indonesia). IUCN (2019): Data Deficient. Habitat: freshwater.
