Neotype: NMW 19919. Paratypes:: NMW 1999 (1). Originally as pöchii. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Barbus poechii Steindachner 1911. Both species may have been based on the same specimens (see Greenwood 1962:192 [ref. 23158]).
