Current status: Valid as Hyporhamphus regularis (Günther 1866). Hemiramphidae. Distribution: Australia. Two subspecies: regularis from South Australia and Western Australia and ardelio from eastern Australia (Queensland south to Victoria). Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
