Paralectotypes and Bleeker specimens: BMNH 1866.5.2.213 (1), MNHN 0000-3853 (2), NMV 46304 (1); RMNH 2091 (1), 10474 [ex 7035] (4). Type catalog: Bertin & Estève 1948:48 [ref. 19574]. Lectotype selection no researched, now designated here (but Kottelat 2913 says designated by Eschmeyer). •Valid as Leptobarbus hoevenii (Bleeker 1851) -- (Roberts 1989:41 [ref. 6439], Kottelat et al. 1993:37 [ref. 23448], Kottelat & Lim 1996:230 [ref. 23210], Rainboth 1996: [ref. 22772] as hoveveni, Doi 1997:7 [ref. 22832] as hoeveni, Vu & Nguyen 1997:27 [ref. 26438], Kottelat 2001:58 [ref. 25780], Grinang & Lim 2004:288 [ref. 28551], Kottelat & Widjanarti 2005:150 [ref. 28284], Tan & Kottelat 2009:39 [ref. 30261], Sulaiman et al. 2018:28 [ref. 35802], Ahmad et al. 2023:91 [ref. 41243]). Current status: Valid as Leptobarbus hoevenii (Bleeker 1851). Leptobarbidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Malaya (Malaysia), Sumatra and Kalimantan (Indonesia), Brunei. IUCN (2020): Least Concern. Habitat: freshwater.
