infrafasciatus, Haplochilus Günther [A.] 1866:313, 357 [Catalogue of the fishes in the British Museum v. 6; ref. 1983] Old Calabar [Calabar], 4°57'N, 8°20'E, Nigeria. Holotype (unique): BMNH 1864.4.5.7. Second specimen questionably referred and not a type; reidentified on p. 357. •Synonym of Epiplatys sexfasciatus Gill 1862 -- (Wildekamp et al. 1986:258 [ref. 6198], Romand in Lévêque et al. 1992:634 [ref. 21590]). •In part a synonym of Epiplatys spilargyreius (Duméril 1861) [but based on Nile non-type specimen] -- (Wildekamp et al. 1986:260 [ref. 6198], Romand in Lévêque et al. 1992:631 [ref. 21590]). •Synonym of Epiplatys sexfasciatus Gill 1862, but a valid subspecies infrafasciatus (Günther 1866) -- (Lazara 2001:112 [ref. 25711]). •Valid as Epiplatys infrafasciatus (Günther 1866) -- (Wildekamp 1996:79 [ref. 23649], van der Zee et al. 2007:87 [ref. 30034], Fermon et al. 2022:263 [ref. 39448] with question). Current status: Valid as Epiplatys infrafasciatus (Günther 1866). Nothobranchiidae. Distribution: Western-central Africa: Guinea to Cameroon and northern Equatorial Guinea. Habitat: freshwater.
