Lectotype established in Huber 1992:102 [ref. 20639]. •Probably a synonym of Rivulus ornatus Garman 1898 -- (Hrbek et al. 2004:569 [ref. 27910]). •Valid as Rivulus atratus Garman 1895 -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:19 [ref. 9708], Huber 1992:102 [ref. 20639], Lazara 2001:270 [ref. 25711], Costa in Reis et al. 2003:534 [ref. 27061], Costa 2003:176 [ref. 27578], Costa 2004:4 [ref. 27570], Costa 2004:11 [ref. 27656], Costa 2004:2 [ref. 27923], Costa 2006:147, 150 [ref. 28875] in subgenus Anablepsoides, Costa & Lazzarotto 2008:129 [ref. 29870], Schindler & Valdesalici 2011:113 [ref. 31382]). •Valid as Anablepsoides atratus (Garman 1895) -- (Costa 2011:243 [ref. 31655], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:101 [ref. 35633], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:27 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Anablepsoides atratus (Garman 1895). Rivulidae: Rivulinae. Distribution: South America: Amazon River basin (Brazil, Colombia and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
