Holotype (unique): BMNH 1912.8.30.5. Combined with a neuter genus, the adjective should be strigatum. •Synonym of Rivulus geayi Vaillant 1899 -- (Huber 1991:70 [ref. 19721], Huber 1992 [ref. 20639], Fernández & Butí 1996:255 [ref. 22775], Huber 1999:50 [ref. 23834], Lazara 2001:275 [ref. 25711], Hrbek et al. 2004:569 [ref. 27910]). •Valid as Rivulus strigatus Regan 1912 -- (Costa in Reis et al. 2003:539 [ref. 27061], Costa 2006:153 [ref. 28875] in subgenus Laimosemion). •Valid as Laimosemion strigatum (Regan 1912) -- (Costa 2011:240 [ref. 31655] as strigatus, Vermeulen et al. 2012:188 [ref. 32253] as strigatus, Valdesalici & García Gil 2015:169 [ref. 34010] as strigatus). Current status: Valid as Laimosemion strigatum (Regan 1912). Rivulidae: Rivulinae. Distribution: Lower Amazon River basin, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
