Syntypes: (10) lost. Also appeared as new in Kessler 1860:118 [ref. 18393]. •Synonym of Alburnoides bipunctatus (Bloch 1782) -- (Berg 1949:758 [ref. 20661], Kottelat 1997:44 [ref. 22952] with question). •Valid as Alburnoides maculatus (Kessler 1859) -- (Bogutskaya & Coad 2009:140 [ref. 30270], Bogutskaya et al. 2010:467 [ref. 31109], Turan et al. 2014:101 [ref. 33119], Bektaş et al. 2019:[9] [ref. 36964], Turan et al. 2019:208 [ref. 37022], Dyldin et al. 2020:111 [ref. 37569], Dyldin et al. 2023:[28] [ref. 40328]). Current status: Valid as Alburnoides maculatus (Kessler 1859). Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae. Distribution: Eastern Europe: Crimea Peninsula, Black Sea basin (Ukraine/Russia). Habitat: freshwater.
