Syntypes: BMNH 1939.7.17.3 [ex MCZ 27694] (1), MCZ 27694 (10). •Valid as Orestias elegans Garman 1895 -- (Parenti 1984:188 [ref. 5359], Ortega & Vari 1986:19 [ref. 9708], Lazara 2001:235 [ref. 25711], Costa in Reis et al. 2003:551 [ref. 27061], Reis et al. 2016:17 [ref. 34496], Esmaeili et al. 2018:18 [ref. 36738]). Current status: Valid as Orestias elegans Garman 1895. Cyprinodontidae: Orestiinae. Distribution: Santa Eulalia River, Pacific slope of Peru. Habitat: freshwater.
