Current status: Valid as Hippocampus taeniopterus Bleeker 1852. Syngnathidae: Syngnathinae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Indonesia and Papua New Guinea east to Fiji, south to Australia and New Caledonia. Habitat: brackish, marine.
