Type catalog: Bertin & Estève 1950:44 [ref. 19576]. Genus should have been Coelonotus. •Synonym of Microphis leiaspis (Bleeker 1853) -- (Dawson 1984:131 [ref. 5879], Dawson 1985:132 [ref. 6541], Dawson 1986:285 [ref. 6201]). •Valid as Microphis vaillantii (Juillerat 1880) -- (Kuiter 2009:272 [ref. 30404], Fricke et al. 2018:125 [ref. 35805], Moots 2022:483 [ref. 39722], Haÿ et al. 2023:26 [ref. 40264]). Current status: Valid as Microphis vaillantii (Juillerat 1880). Syngnathidae: Nerophinae. Distribution: Indian Ocean: Madagascar and Reunion Island. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
