Syntypes: BMNH 1848.10.25.17 (1, stuffed), 1848.10.25.18 (1, dry), 1848.10.25.19 (1, stuffed), 1855.9.19.189 (1). Current status: Valid as Centroberyx affinis (Günther 1859). Berycidae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: southern Australia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Kermadec Islands. Habitat: marine.
