Current status: Valid as Scopeloberyx maxillaris (Garman 1899). Melamphaidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: southern California (U.S.A.) south to northern Chile, including southern Gulf of California (Mexico) and Galapagos Islands (Ecuador). IUCN (2020): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
