Current status: Valid as Syngnathus temminckii Kaup 1856. Syngnathidae: Syngnathinae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic, southwestern Indian Ocean: Walvis Bay (Namibia) south to Cape of Good Hope (South Africa), then north to KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa). Habitat: brackish, marine.
