Böhlke recognized a holotype as the specimen figured by Cope and isolated by Fowler as the specimen forming the basis of the description; it is here (W. N. Current status: Valid as Miniellus scabriceps (Cope 1868). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Distribution: Eastern North America: West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina (eastern U.S.A.). Habitat: freshwater.
