The author states, Anthias (Pseudanthias) ventralis hawiiensis new species and subspecies (p. 9) and on p. 12 Anthias (Pseudanthias) ventralis ventralis new subspecies. The new taxa he is describing are the new species ventralis and the new subspecies hawaiiensis. The types of the subspecies hawaiiensis are not the types of the nominate subspecies ventralis.
