Lectotype selected by Banarescu & Nalbant 1967:294 [ref. 20624]. •Synonym of Sarcocheilichthys nigripinnis (Günther 1873), but a valid subspecies -- (Bănărescu & Nalbant 1967:294 [ref. 20624], Lu et al. 1977:477 [ref. 2850], Zhu 1995:76 [ref. 25213]). •Valid as Sarcocheilichthys davidi (Sauvage 1878) -- (Ding 1994:261 [ref. 21531], Yue in Chen et al. 1998:281 [ref. 23878], Zhang et al. 2016:78 [ref. 34477], An et al. 2020:217 [ref. 37481], Guo 2021:223 [ref. 38617]). Current status: Valid as Sarcocheilichthys davidi (Sauvage 1878). Gobionidae. Distribution: Yangtze River basin, China. Habitat: freshwater.
