Holotype: FMNH 53260 [ex CM 1726]. Paratypes: CAS 64605 [ex IU 12100] (1). Type catalog: Henn 1928:82 [ref. 12305], Ibarra & Stewart 1987:44 [ref. 12367], Ferraris 2007:133 [ref. 29155]. •Valid as Hemicetopsis macilentus Eigenmann 1912 -- (Burgess 1989:292 [ref. 12860]). •Valid as Pseudocetopsis macilentus (Eigenmann 1912) -- (de Pinna & Vari 1995:3 [ref. 21651], Vari & Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:259 [ref. 27061] as macilenta). •Valid as Denticetopsis macilenta (Eigenmann 1912) -- (Vari et al. 2005:210 [ref. 28270], de Pinna et al. 2007:802 [ref. 29247], Ferraris 2007:133 [ref. 29155], DoNascimiento 2016:539 [ref. 34727], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:[21] [ref. 35679], Taphorn et al. 2022:46 [ref. 41297]). Current status: Valid as Denticetopsis macilenta (Eigenmann 1912). Cetopsidae: Cetopsinae. Distribution: South America: Potaro River, Essequibo River basin (Guyana and ?Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
