Paralectotypes: ?BMNH 1845.10.29.57 (1), SMF 3081 (1), MNHN A-0843 (1). Type catalog: Blanc & Hureau 1972:695 [ref. 21541]. Thomson 1997:482 [ref. 23428] wrongly treated Richardson's 1846:249 [ref. 3742] misidentification of Mugil macrolepidotus Rüppell as a separate original description with a holotype. Lectotype established by Dor 1984:192 [ref. 29757] if not designated earlier. •Synonym of Liza vaigiensis (Quoy & Gaimard 1825) -- (Dor 1984:192 [ref. 29757], Thomson 1997:538 [ref. 23428]). •Synonym of Ellochelon vaigiensis (Quoy & Gaimard 1825) -- (Kottelat 2013:275 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Ellochelon vaigiensis (Quoy & Gaimard 1825). Mugilidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
