ferrandi, Mugil Valenciennes [A.] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1836:232 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 11; ref. 1005] Port Jackson, Queensland, Australia. Syntypes: MNHN 0000-4961 (3). Type catalog: Blanc & Hureau 1972:692 [ref. 21541]. Appeared first in Cuvier 1829:232 [ref. 995] without a precise tie to previous literature, as "M. Ferrandi, ib." with "ib." referring to Voyage de Freycinet [Quoy & Gaimard]. Appeared in 1836 with description based on Quoy & Gaimard's Mugil Ferrandi, Pl. 59 (fig. 3); Quoy & Gaimard (1825:338 [ref. 3574]) used the vernacular "Ferrand" and named the species Mugil argenteus. Mugil ferrandi would be an absolute synonym of M. argenteus. •Synonym of Liza argentea (Quoy & Gaimard 1825) -- (Thomson 1997:516 [ref. 23428], Harrison & Senou 1999:2087 [ref. 24780], Hoese & Bray 2006:678 [ref. 29000]). •Synonym of Gracilimugil argenteus (Quoy & Gaimard 1825). Current status: Synonym of Gracilimugil argenteus (Quoy & Gaimard 1825). Mugilidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
