Lectotype selected by Gilbert et al. 1992:755 [ref. 19877]. •Synonym of Fundulus cingulatus Valenciennes 1846 -- (Wildekamp 1996:238 [ref. 23649]). •Valid as Fundulus rubrifrons (Jordan 1880) -- (Gilbert et al. 1992:758 [ref. 19877], Lazara 2001:160 [ref. 25711], Nelson et al. 2004:102 [ref. 27807], Scharpf 2007:15 [ref. 30398], Page & Burr 2011:431 [ref. 31215], Ghedotti & Davis 2013:58 [ref. 32490] in subgenus Zygonectes, Robins et al. 2018:209 [ref. 35886]). Current status: Valid as Fundulus rubrifrons (Jordan 1880). Fundulidae. Distribution: Southeastern U.S.A.: Florida and Georgia. Habitat: freshwater.
