Holotype: USNM 123205. Paratypes: MCZ 37293 [ex USNM 123207] (1); USNM 123206 (2), 123207 (orig. 4, now 3). •Valid as Coleotropis blackburni Schultz 1949 -- (Gilbert & Caldwell 1967:7 [ref. 21336], Cervigón 1991:234 [ref. 24472], Cervigón 1992:263 [ref. 23827]). •Valid as Atherinella blackburni (Schultz 1949) -- (Chernoff 1986:245 [ref. 5847], Aguilera 1998:47 [ref. 24221], Chernoff 2003:1097 [ref. 27017], Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:516 [ref. 27061], Mattox et al. 2008:308 [ref. 29765], Matamoros et al. 2009:12 [ref. 31241], Angulo et al. 2013:995 [ref. 33194]). Current status: Valid as Atherinella blackburni (Schultz 1949). Atherinopsidae: Menidiinae. Distribution: Southern Caribbean and coasts of South America: Aruba, Brazil, Colombia, Honduras, Costa Rica, CuraƧao Island and Venezuela. Habitat: brackish, marine.
