Type catalog: Blanc & Hureau 1971:712 [ref. 21541]. •Valid as Odontesthes (Cauque) brevianalis (Günther 1880) -- (Dyer 2000:85 [ref. 26678], Dyer 2000:113 [ref. 26677]). •Valid as Cauque brevianalis (Günther 1880) -- (Pequeño 1989:51 [ref. 14125]). •Valid as Odontesthes brevianalis (Günther 1880) -- (Dyer 1998:535 [ref. 23858], Dyer & Gosztonyi 1999:215 [ref. 24265], Dyer in Reis et al. 2003:521 [ref. 27061]). Current status: Valid as Odontesthes brevianalis (Günther 1880). Atherinopsidae: Atherinopsinae. Distribution: Estuaries from La Serena to Chiloé, Chile. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
