Neotype designated by McKay 1985:25 [ref. 5265]. •Synonym of Sillago maculata Quoy & Gaimard 1824 -- (McKay 1985:24 [ref. 5265]). •Synonym of Sillago maculata Quoy & Gaimard 1824, but a valid subspecies -- (Allen & Swainston 1988:62 [ref. 25477], Paxton et al. 1989:563 [ref. 12442], Larson & Williams 1997:357 [ref. 23967], Allen 1997:98 [ref. 23977]). •Valid as Sillago burrus Richardson 1842 -- (McKay 1992:39 [ref. 20879], Kottelat et al. 1993:109 [ref. 23448], McKay 1999:2621 [ref. 24836], Hutchins 2001:32 [ref. 25847], Paxton et al. 2006:1123 [ref. 29086]. Kaga 2013:92 [ref. 32686], Golani et al. 2013:3 [ref. 32789], Larson et al. 2013:116 [ref. 32988], Kottelat 2013:331 [ref. 32989] as burro). Current status: Valid as Sillago burrus Richardson 1842. Sillaginidae. Distribution: Western Pacific and southeastern Indian Ocean. Habitat: brackish, marine.
