Lectotype selected by Randall 1980:157 [ref. 6717]. •Valid as Plectranthias megalepis (Günther 1880) -- (Randall 1996:121 [ref. 23194], Heemstra & Randall 1999:2470 [ref. 24815], Allen & Walsh 2015:83 [ref. 33954], Gill et al. 2016:355 [ref. 34957], Anderson 2018:31 [ref. 36146], Matsunuma & Tashiro 2020:151 [ref. 37726], Parenti & Randall 2020:28 [ref. 37354]). Current status: Valid as Plectranthias megalepis (Günther 1880). Anthiadidae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Kai Islands (Maluku, Indonesia). Habitat: marine.
