aegyptiacus, Gallichtys Cuvier [G.] (ex Ehrenberg) in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1833:176 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 9; ref. 1002] Alexandria, Egypt, eastern Mediterranean Sea. Syntypes: MNHN A-6876 (2), ZMB 1595 (6). Type catalog: Smith-Vaniz et al. 1979:22-23 [ref. 12247]. The genus Alectis is feminine, so the spelling alexandrina is correct. Also appeared in Griffith & Smith 1834:Pl. 26 (fig. 3) (opp. p. 194) [ref. 1908] as Gallus ægyptiacus. •Synonym of Alectis alexandrinus (Geoffroy St. Hilaire 1817) -- (Daget & Smith-Vaniz 1986:308 [ref. 6207], Smith-Vaniz et al. 1990:729 [ref. 18644]). •Synonym of Scyris alexandrina (Geoffroy St. Hilaire 1817). 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Scyris alexandrina (Geoffroy St. Hilaire 1817). Carangidae: Caranginae. Habitat: marine.
