Current status: Valid as Hypoplectrus affinis (Poey 1861). Serranidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Florida Keys (U.S.A.) and Cuba south to Trinidad and Tobago, including southern Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. Habitat: marine.
