Appeared first as above, then in Sykes 1839:56 [ref. 4306]; more complete treatment in Sykes 1841:355 [ref. 18868]. Perhaps can be considered as a name published in the synonymy of Cyprinus auratus based on comments in species account. •Valid as Schismatorhynchos nukta (Sykes 1839) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:297 [ref. 20764], Manimekalan & Singh 1997:170 [ref. 24978], Menon 1999:139 [ref. 24904], Yadav 2000:41 [ref. 25661], Yadav 2003:15 [ref. 27711], Shrestha 2008:74 [ref. 29923] as Schismatorhynchus, Arunkumar & Manimekalan 2018:1739 [ref. 36172] as Skymatorynchus, Bleher 2018:782 [ref. 36647]). •Valid as Bangana nukta (Sykes 1839) -- (Yang et al. 2012:370 [ref. 33458]). •Possibly valid as Nukta nukta (Sykes 1839) -- (Kottelat 2017:494 [ref. 35262]). Current status: Valid as Bangana nukta (Sykes 1839). Cyprinidae: Labeoninae. Distribution: Nepal and India. Habitat: freshwater.
