thomassi, Scaphiodon Day [F.] 1877:551, Pl. 134 (fig. 1) [The fishes of India Part 3; ref. 4886] South Canara [now southwestern Karnataka], India. Syntypes: AMS B.7825 (1) Canara, ?NHW 54773 (1), ZSI 2192 (1). Type catalog: Whitehead & Talwar 1976:156 [ref. 23762], Ferraris et al. 2000:303 [ref. 25110]. Named after H. E. Thomas of the Indian Fisheries, so correct name would be thomasi [ICZN Art. 32.5.1], but Day named three species after him, always as thomassi, so spelling probably intended. •Synonym of Cyprinion nashii (Day 1869) -- (Menon 1999:118 [ref. 24904]). •Valid as Osteochilus thomassi (Day 1877) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:248 [ref. 20764]). •Valid as Osteochilichthys thomassi (Day 1877) -- (Pethiyagoda & Kottelat 1994:104 [ref. 21421], Aijthkumar et al. 1999:248 [ref. 24211], Bleher 2018:643 [ref. 36647], Plamoottil 2022:981 [ref. 39362], Plamoottil & Vineeth 2022:1320 [ref. 39453]). Current status: Valid as Osteochilichthys thomassi (Day 1877). Cyprinidae: Torinae. Distribution: South Asia: Cauvery River drainage, southern India. Habitat: freshwater.
