Type catalog: Bauchot et al. 1984:29-30 [ref. 19232] also type described. •Valid as Epinephelus lebretonianus (Hombron & Jacquinot 1853) -- (Randall & Heemstra 1991:181 [ref. 19601], Heemstra & Randall 1993:177 [ref. 21042], Craig et al. 2011:172 [ref. 31786], Ma & Craig 2018:455 [ref. 36100] as incertae sedis, Parenti & Randall 2020:73 [ref. 37354], Akhilesh et al. 2021:52 [ref. 38701]). Current status: Valid as Epinephelus lebretonianus (Hombron & Jacquinot 1853). Epinephelidae. Distribution: Locality unknown, probably Indo-Pacific but no specific information (known from one specimen). Habitat: marine.
