masyae, Nemacheilus Smith [H. M.] 1933:58, Fig. 3; Pl. 1 (fig. 3) [Journal of the Siam Society, Natural History Supplement v. 9 (no. 1); ref. 4051] Ban Ta Yai, Tadi stream, Nakhon Sritamarat, Peninsular Thailand. Holotype: KUMF 714. Paratypes: USNM 109720 (2). Originally as masyae; named for a man. The spelling masyae is acceptable; early workers almost certainly latinized the name first, and then added an 'e' (Art. 31.1.1) [WNE, 12 Mar. 2012] -- we now suggest using masyae. •Valid as Nemacheilus masyae Smith 1933 -- (Kottelat 1990:55 [ref. 14137], Rainboth 1996:128 [ref. 22772], Bănărescu & Nalbant 1995:435 [ref. 23187], Doi 1997:16 [ref. 22832], Ng & Tan 1999:356 [ref. 24159], Freyhof & Serov 2001:137 [ref. 25364], Hadiaty & Siebert 2001:186 [ref. 25685], Bohlen & Šlechtová 2011:204 [ref. 31485], Kottelat 2012:91 [ref. 32367], Kottelat 2013:201 [ref. 32989], Page et al. 2020:401 [ref. 37540], Kottelat 2021:286 [ref. 38162], Taki et al. 2021:224 [ref. 39830], Ahmad et al. 2023:52 [ref. 41243]). Current status: Valid as Nemacheilus masyae Smith 1933. Nemacheilidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: coastal streams of peninsular Thailand and Malaysia, Malay Peninsula [probably not Mae Klong, Chao Phraya and Mekong River basins]. IUCN (2020): Least Concern.
