Current status: Valid as Callechelys springeri (Ginsburg 1951). Ophichthidae: Ophichthinae. Distribution: Northwestern Atlantic: east coast of Florida (U.S.A.); Gulf of Mexico (Mexico). IUCN (2015): Data deficient. Habitat: marine.
