labiosum, Diagramma Macleay [W.] 1883:202 [Proceedings of the Linnean Society of New South Wales v. 8 (pt 2); ref. 14342] Wide Bay, Queensland, Australia [Coral Sea, southwestern Pacific]. Holotype (unique): whereabouts unknown. The genus Diagramma is neuter, however Gramma and other fish genera ending in -gramma are feminine (based on the Greek word for line). •Synonym of Diagramma pictum (Thunberg 1792), but a valid subspecies labiosum -- (Johnson 1999:736 [ref. 25471], Johnson et al. 2001:664 [ref. 25576], Randall 2005:265 [ref. 28239], Johnson & Wilmer 2015:496 [ref. 33883]). •Synonym of Diagramma pictum (Thunberg 1792) -- (Allen et al. 2006:1219 [ref. 29090]). •Synonym of Diagramma picta (Thunberg 1792) -- (Fricke et al. 2009:64 [ref. 30213]). •Valid as Diagramma labiosum Macleay 1883 -- (Kuiter 1993:189 [ref. 23929], Francis 1993:161 [ref. 25479], Allen 1997:128 [ref. 23977], Kuiter 1997:182 [ref. 25488], Hutchins 2001:263 [ref. 25841], Hutchins 2001:34 [ref. 25847], McKay 2001:2966 [ref. 26103], Larson et al. 2013:137 [ref. 32988], Fricke et al. 2019:162 [ref. 36673]). Current status: Valid as Diagramma labiosum Macleay 1883. Haemulidae: Plectorhinchinae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Northern Australia and southern New Guinea. Habitat: brackish, marine.
