Current status: Valid as Pristigenys refulgens (Valenciennes 1862). Priacanthidae. Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, South Africa, Seychelles, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Indonesia, north to southern Japan. Habitat: marine.
