Current status: Valid as Pristigenys refulgens (Valenciennes 1862). Priacanthidae. Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa, Comoros, Seychelles, Madagascar and Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius, Rodrigues) east to Indonesia, north to southern Japan. Habitat: marine.
