Syntypes: (3) 5976 (3 of 5). •Valid as Johnius hypostoma (Bleeker 1854) -- (Sasaki & Kailola 1991:122 [ref. 19082], Matsuura & Peristiwady in Matsuura & Peristiwady 2000:260 [ref. 27511], Sasaki 2001:3146 [ref. 26108], Parenti 2020:22 [ref. 37439]). Current status: Valid as Johnius hypostoma (Bleeker 1854). Sciaenidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean: Sumatra (Indonesia). Habitat: marine.
