Current status: Valid as Pseudotolithus senegallus (Cuvier 1830). Sciaenidae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Senegal south to southern Angola, including Cape Verde Islands, and São Tomé and Príncipe; introduced in Mediterranean Sea. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
