Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:99 [ref. 13621], Zarske 2011:82 [ref. 31375]. Lectotype selected by Poll & Gosse 1963:26 [ref. 5137]. •Valid as Congocharax spilotaenia (Boulenger 1912) -- (Vari 1979:329 [ref. 5490], Daget & Gosse 1984:185 [ref. 6185], Poll & Gosse 1995:155 [ref. 24781]). •Valid as Neolebias spilotaenia Boulenger 1912 -- (Vari 2007:457 [ref. 30023], Zarske 2011:82 [ref. 31375], Skelton 2019:226 [ref. 36564], Musschoot 2024:352 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Neolebias spilotaenia Boulenger 1912. Distichodontidae. Distribution: Central Africa: Congo River basin, Democratic Republic of Congo. Habitat: freshwater.
