Holotype: USNM 70245. Paratypes: USNM 171126 (10), 227794 [ex Univ. Iowa Mus.] (1, not in jar in 1985). •Valid as Apogon hyalina (Smith & Radcliffe 1912) -- (Kottelat et al. 1993:109 [ref. 23448]). •Valid as Foa hyalina (Smith & Radcliffe 1912) -- (Allen in Randall & Lim 2000:614 [ref. 25122], Allen & Adrim 2003:36 [ref. 26830], Allen & Erdmann 2012:379 [ref. 31980], Fricke et al. 2014:71 [ref. 33932], Mabuchi et al. 2014:196 [ref. 33426], Fraser 2014:168 [ref. 33548], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:11 [ref. 36965], Allen & Erdmann 2024:404 [ref. 40796]). Current status: Valid as Foa hyalina (Smith & Radcliffe 1912). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Western Pacific: eastern Indonesia east to Palau, north to Philippines, south to Papua New Guinea and Timor Sea. Habitat: marine.
