argyreum, Melanostoma Gilbert [C. H.] & Cramer [F.] 1897:416, Pl. 39 (fig. 3) [Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 19 (no. 1114); ref. 1635] Off Hawaiian Islands, south of O'ahu, 21°12'N, 157°49'W, Albatross station 3472, depth 295-298 fathoms. Holotype: USNM 47732. Paratypes: CAS-SU 4925 (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:72 [ref. 12291]. The authors treated the species as an adjective, so when in Synagrops it should be argyreus. •Valid as Synagrops argyrea (Gilbert & Cramer 1897) -- (Carpenter 1999:2437 [ref. 24813]). •Valid as Synagrops argyreus (Gilbert & Cramer 1897) -- (Mundy 2005:337 [ref. 28379], Randall 2007:184 [ref. 30952], Prokofiev & Schwarzhans 2015:84 [ref. 35428]). •Valid as Parascombrops argyreus (Gilbert & Cramer 1897) -- (Schwarzhans & Prokofiev 2017:31 [ref. 35293], Fricke et al. 2018:143 [ref. 35805]). Current status: Valid as Parascombrops argyreus (Gilbert & Cramer 1897). Synagropidae. Distribution: Madagascar; Coral Sea to Tasman Sea, Vanuatu and Tonga; Hawaiian Islands. Habitat: marine.
