Paralectotypes: (at least 8) ?BMNH 1848.2.15 [sic] (1), 1848.3.18.126 (1), 1851.12.27.367 (1 skin), 1851.12.27.369 (1 skin), 1855.9.19.? (1), 1968.3.11.25 (1), ?1995.7.27.3 (1). Based on specimens and Lethrinus haematopterus of Richardson and of Bleeker (not of Temminck & Schlegel). Lectotype selected by Sato 1978:48 [ref. 8884]. The 3 BMNH lots cataloged in 1848 and 1855 are in one bottle, but only 2 specimens are present. •Synonym of Lethrinus haematopterus Temminck & Schlegel 1844 -- (Sato 1978:47 [ref. 8884], Carpenter in Carpenter & Allen 1989:63 [ref. 13577]).
