Syntypes: BMNH 1850.7.20.103 (1, stuffed), 1856.9.11.12 (1, stuffed, Macgillivray spec.). Also listed was Plate XXV, but on preface p. vi it is stated, "The Plates referred to, and executed by Mr. Ford, will be published as a separate volume." Spelled gliphodon by Castelnau 1879:350 [ref. 764]. •Synonym of Lethrinus lentjan (Lacepède 1802) -- (Carpenter in Carpenter & Allen 1989:67 [ref. 13577]). Current status: Synonym of Lethrinus lentjan (Lacepède 1802). Lethrinidae: Lethrininae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
