Holotype (unique): BMNH 1865.9.21.6. •Synonym of Lethrinus miniatus (Bloch & Schneider 1801) -- (Sato 1978:40 [ref. 8884]). •Synonym of Lethrinus olivaceus Valenciennes 1830 -- (Carpenter in Carpenter & Allen 1989:78 [ref. 13577], Carpenter 2022:324 [ref. 39786]). •Valid as Lethrinus longirostris Playfair 1867 -- (Shibuya et al. 2022:51 [ref. 39098]). Current status: Valid as Lethrinus longirostris Playfair 1867. Lethrinidae: Lethrininae. Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: East Africa east to Marshall Islands and Tuamotu Archipelago (French Polynesia), north to southern Kyushu (southern Japan), south to New Caledonia. Habitat: marine.
