Current status: Valid as Gymnocranius frenatus Bleeker 1873. Lethrinidae: Monotaxinae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Gulf of Thailand, South China Sea and Indonesia east to Philippines and New Ireland (Papua New Guinea). Habitat: marine.
