Tentatively secondarily preoccupied (and apparently described independently) in Acanthopagrus by Sparus calamara Cuvier 1829. Lectotype selected by Iwatsuki et al. 2010:126 [ref. 31106], but lectotype designation is invalid. •Mention -- (Iwatsuki & Heemstra 2010:129 [ref. 30738]). •Synonym of Acanthopagrus berda (Fabricius 1775) -- (Bauchot & Skelton 1986:331 [ref. 6210], Iwatsuki & Carpenter 2006:12 [ref. 28673], Kume & Yoshino 2008:53 [ref. 29572] but should be dated to Cuvier 1829, Parenti 2019:68 [ref. 36892]). 2°Homonym.
