Current status: Valid as Diplodus capensis (Smith 1844). Sparidae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic, southwestern Indian Ocean: Angola south to Cape of Good Hope (South Africa), then north to Mozambique, east to Madagascar and Mascarenes (Mauritius). Habitat: marine.
