Holotype: MNHN 1981-0608. Paratypes: BMNH 1981.3.30.1 (1); Géry coll (2); MNHN 1981-0609 (1); USNM 224524 (3, 1 c&s). Type catalog: Vari & Howe 1991:31 [ref. 19022]. •Valid as Nannocharax maculicauda Vari & Géry 1981 -- (Daget & Gosse 1984:203 [ref. 6185], Vari & Ferraris 2004:561 [ref. 28020], Vari 2007:445 [ref. 30023], Jerep & Vari 2014:48 [ref. 33325], Fermon et al. 2022:144 [ref. 39448], Musschoot 2024:347 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Nannocharax maculicauda Vari & Géry 1981. Distichodontidae. Distribution: Western-central Africa: Cameroon south to Gabon. Habitat: freshwater.
