Remaining paralectotypes are syntypes of Nannacara anomala Regan 1905 (Kullander 1986:146 [ref. 12439]). •Valid as Crenicara punctulata (Günther 1863) (often seen as punctulatum) -- (Kullander 1986:140 [ref. 12439], Kullander 1990:8 [ref. 16010], Kullander & Staeck 1990:161 [ref. 16012], Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:626 [ref. 27061], Staeck 2003:132 [ref. 27488], Barriga Salazar 2014:118 [ref. 35745] as punctulatum, Sarmiento et al. 2014:189 [ref. 35004], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:96 [ref. 35633] as punctulatum, Staeck 2017:229 [ref. 35639], Careaga et al. 2020:77 [ref. 37774], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:28 [ref. 39298], Taphorn et al. 2022:32 [ref. 41297]). Current status: Valid as Crenicara punctulata (Günther 1863). Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: South America: upper Amazon basin (Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
